Ancient Hebrew

What is it?

Ancient Hebrew is the language of Hebrew written in pictographs and spoken before Moses’ writings of the Torah. Jeff Benner of the Ancient Hebrew Research Center writes inscriptions have been found as early as 20th century BC.

These letters each contain a concept. Looking at them, you may recognize pictures of a man’s head or a seed sprouting.

Why is it important?

The Hebrew pictographs each contain a meaning in concrete, action, and/or abstract form. They are called signs or otiot. Language determines the concepts of a culture. Hebrew language is agriculturally based and their thought is very different from Greek-minded modern culture we live in today.

Gentiles or non Jewish believers usually don’t have experience with Hebrew language. This creates an environment to understand the scriptures from one’s own cultural view and not from a Hebraic understanding.

The importance of understanding from the otiot is for your scripture reading to be a personal interaction with יהוה/Yahuah/the Lord. Let the Ruach/Holy Spirit teach you the Ways of His ancient paths.
