Law Education is Free! The only price is the effort you put into learning law! However there are many types of law. The law you follow determines the path of your life. In Scripture, the word law is from the Hebrew word, “torah”. Torah is the first five books of the bible (or if you’re Jewish, it’s called the Torah). Torah further translates to the word “instructions” God the Father gave instructions or law of how to live.
Law Education- What Law do you Follow?
Every culture has its law. It determines the values and beliefs of a people. As a matter of fact it even includes a cultures spiritual views. Every political view and movement has a religious or theological perspective. Don’t be fooled by the idea of the “separation of church and state.” Accordingly that means the institutional separation of church organization and the institution of the body of government. There are three (simplified) types of jurisdiction in law.
Law of the Air
Law of the air is the jurisdiction of ideas, thoughts, and spirituality. For example the codified law is the Bible, Torah, Koran, and any other doctrine or manual that a body of people follow. Similar beliefs create a network in the air that has power. Look at political movements, mobs, or even advertising. If you agree about an idea, then it influences your thought process and actions.
Where do you see jurisdiction of the air today? In contracts, incorporation of businesses and municipal governments. A commonly used contract is the trust contract. It is initiated by one party to give an interest in ownership for the benefit of another. The grantor gives what they own to a trustee for a specific reason and responsibility for the beneficiary. Specifically well known trusts are the birth certificate, driver’s license, and deed of trust, and tax documents. Notice there is only one signature on these forms. In summary it’s a unilateral contract to give something of yours away- voluntarily. (If you don’t think these contracts are voluntary, start here.)
Law of the Sea
The law of the sea began with trade, from port to port. It was perfected by the British with Admiralty Law with got mixed with the English Common Law and today is called Equity Law. Basically, it was the “equity” or fairness of the King to decide a thing. Contract law with two or more parties signing is a simple way of defining the law of the sea. Comparatively think of your warranty deed where consideration or something of value is traded for something else. The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) is codified Admiralty law. The UCC has been codified into every State government. The Secretary of the State is the coordinator of trade. Chiefly it is where the land and the sea law or jurisdiction meet.
Land and Soil Law
Land and soil law came from the people. How? Because we are made of dust. Adam in Hebrew also means the soil. The codified land law is the common law. Several documents codify land jurisdiction. For instance the Magna Carta, the Declaration of Independence and even the Torah state land law. Sovereignty and idea of God given rights or responsibilities are universal themes. Whereas the Constitutions of the United States (1787, 1789, & 1790) all state various laws and how they relate to the people.
